When this restaurant first opened, I thought to myself “What a stupid name for a sushi restaurant.. I’m never eating there!” But time and curiosity got the best of me, thankfully. This is not just the only sushi restaurant in our area (since Momotaro closed a few months ago), it’s also really good! We’ve been here many times since our first try, and each time it gets more and more crowded. I was amazed at the amount of non Asian families with young kids dining there the other night!
The place itself is a decent size, decorated in a clean, modern Japanese style. The first 4 or 5 times we were here, the same Yoshida Brothers album was playing, but I think they’ve since added different music to their playlist. I bet the workers got sick of listening to the same thing all day! There’s a large sushi bar in the center of the restaurant, surrounded by tables and cozy booths. The service has been consistently good.
We’ve tried numerous sushi rolls here, including the tempura roll shown above. The fish has been fresh on all of them, and they have some unique flavor combinations. Two of my favorites are the Loca Special and the Mexican Roll, which both have spicy elements, but aren’t overpowering. Adam likes the Final Fantasy, which is kind of a combination of everything! The tempura rolls are quite good, and unlike some sushi places, they don’t top if with a sickeningly sweet sauce. It tastes how a teriyaki sauce is supposed to taste.. a good mix of savory and sweet, and not just sweet.
Besides the numerous sushi rolls available, there are other dishes on the menu including teriyaki, rice dishes, and noodles. We’ve tried the udon, which is pretty good. They have a nice selection of lunch specials that include rice, salad, miso soup, and an entree item of your choice.
