Border Grill

I’ve been to the Border Grill in Santa Monica, but not in Las Vegas until recently. We decided to stop in for lunch one day, and ended up ordering way too much food! After munching on chips and salsa, we had a nice ceviche come out; quite light, fresh and tart.

I chose the fish tacos as my entree, and they were good; although not as exceptional as I thought they would be. The rice and beans were good.

Adam had the carnitas, which were quite porky, but seasoning-wise, surprisingly bland. We’d thought everything would be overly flavorful here, and bordering on overly spicy- but it was quite the opposite. I think most of our meal was lacking in seasoning, and certainly lacking in heat (even the salsas).

The dessert was quite good; home made mango sorbet and cinnamon ice cream.

All in all, a bit disappointing! I remember being a lot more impressed when I went to the Santa Monica restaurant several years ago. Maybe we ordered the wrong things? Or went on an off day? Or maybe I’m just getting picky as I get older?!
