My last meal in LA for this trip was breakfast at the North End Caffe in Manhattan Beach. I’d heard they were going to be featured on an upcoming episode of Diners, Drive Ins & Dives, and figured… a unique breakfast by the beach… a perfect way to end my trip! Again, my mom and I split a dish, and I chose the Bass Lake Eggs, which consisted of 3 eggs scrambled w/green chile and cheddar, tomatillo salsa, tortillas & potatoes. A good dish, with some nice flavors going on.
After sampling some of my brother’s Huevos Divorciados, however, I realized I ordered the wrong thing! This dish had two corn tortillas, one w/ bacon, pepperjack, avocado, egg & salsa verde, and the other with sausage, cheddar, avocado, egg & red salsa. Quite an explosion of flavors, and it all worked together really well. The side potatoes were also excellent!
I also ordered a side of their bacon beignets; essentially fresh donuts with chopped bacon and maple syrup on top. Yes, they tasted as good as they look and sound!
Definitely a fun place to go to for breakfast. The place is small, and service is order at the counter, and grab a seat wherever you can. By the time we left, the place was packed.
