After hearing very mixed reviews of Grind, we stopped to try it on our way to Henderson one afternoon. The location is a bit odd, located in a ‘resort’ along with a few restaurants and an ABC store, right off the strip. The restaurant itself is a decent size, clean, appropriately set up for a burger joint, with an adjacent bar in the back. It was pretty empty while we were there, although it was pretty late for lunchtime. The service was fine, and we got our food pretty quickly.
The menu is ‘make your own’, with the options of burger type, bun, cheese, toppings and sauce. Included in the $9 price of the burger are 2 toppings and 2 sauces, with the premium toppings and cheese costing an extra 75 cents each. I went with a pretty plain burger, ground chuck on a whole wheat bun, lettuce and tomato, chipotle ketchup and dijon mustard. They cook their burgers medium unless otherwise specified. My burger was indeed medium, with very little pink, and I think next time I would opt to do medium rare. It was, however, well cooked, moist, and quite flavorful.
Fries cost an extra $4. We shared an order of the tall and thin fries, which were fine; not cooked as well as I’d like, but with a nice sprinkling of coarse salt and chives.
While definitely not the best burger place I’ve been to here in Vegas, I thought the food was pretty good. The problem I have is it’s a bit expensive for what you get, when you can get a better burger for cheaper elsewhere (aka LBS). I wouldn’t go out of my way to eat here, but if I were in the area and craving a burger, I’d likely stop back in.
