After our Pancreatic Cancer Research Walk (the real reason we were in San Francisco!) we had time for one more meal before heading to the airport. My first thought was ‘sandwiches’, but I found out the Sentinel wasn’t open on Saturday. Then, we drove by Ike’s Place, took one look at the line, and both said “hell no”. So we decided on Nick’s Crispy Tacos instead. We shared an order of chips with salsa and guacamole. The chips were thick, crispy, and really, really good! They almost reminded me more of corn based pita chips, rather than tortilla chips. The salsa was good, but could’ve used a bit more spice, in my opinion. The guacamole was perfect.
For my tacos, I picked the carne asada and pollo asado. Both had the same thick shell as the chips; only there was a crispy shell inside, and a softer shell outside. The tacos were stuffed with plenty of tasty meat, as well as beans, which, honestly I could’ve done without. In fact. I ended up removing most of mine. They were topped with cheese, salsa, and guacamole. We both ended up eating the first half of them with a fork because they were so overstuffed! Tasty tacos, but I honestly prefer my tacos a bit more simple. LA’s Tito’s Tacos are still my favorite! Stuff some tasty meat and cheese into a tortilla, fry it up, and I’m happy.
