I finally managed to get to Tom Colicchio’s sandwich shop, ‘wichcraft, last week. After some debating, I decided to try the tuna sandwich, even though I’ve never been a huge fan of tuna… I’ll eat it sometimes, but more than likely opt for turkey or corned beef in the sandwich department. Something about the combination of tuna, fennel, and lemon sounded SO good, though!

This was likely the best tuna sandwich I’ve ever had. Not only was the tuna fresh, it had a fantastic lemony taste. In addition to the fennel, it contained some of my other favorite ingredients… olives and capers. These flavors all complemented each other so well, I wondered why I’d never thought of using them with tuna! I believe in place of straight mayo they used an aioli. It was all presented in a nice, chewy baguette. Maybe a tad pricey @ $9.50, but well worth it in my opinion!

I also bought one of their whoopie pies for later. Soft chocolatey cookies with a light, creamy center. Need I say more?

The restaurant is a decent size, open for lunch/early dinner only, and was quite crowded when I was there. I think it’s almost meant to be more of a takeout type of place, since it’s counter service only. The staff was pretty quick and efficient, and I didn’t  have to wait more than a few minutes for my order. I’ll definitely be returning to try more of those sandwiches!

So far every time I’ve been at MGM, I pass ‘wichcraft. It’s a bad habit that I intend to break next time I’m there! This must be the 3rd very positive review I’ve seen in the last month, so I figure I need to see what all the fuss is about.

Yes, you should definitely give it a try! I know they have some vegetarian options on the menu, and I bet they’re pretty good.
