Bakery Review: Crown Bakery

There are a plethora of Asian bakeries in Vegas’ Asiatown, all of which I intend to review immediately. Okay, maybe I won’t get around to reviewing ALL of them anytime soon, but it’s not such a bad goal, right? =D
Crown Bakery was the first I’d been to, mainly because it’s a few doors down from Ichiza. Last night after a sumptuous dinner of Korean food, we trekked over here to get a few pastries for later in the evening, including this extremely rich chocolate cake. What I love about the pastries here, as is not uncommon in Asian bakeries, is that yes, of course they are sweet, but not sickeningly so. The chocolate cake was harder to finish because it was SO chocolately, not because it was TOO sweet. And it was also quite fresh; moist, rich and delicious!
They may not have a huge selection of desserts as compared to places like Lenotre or Jean Phillippe’s, but you can get whole cakes as well as slices. The main items at Crown Bakery seem to be the packaged pastries, including these mini cinnamon buns, which Adam really enjoyed:

They also have a nice selection of one of my favorite Asian type pastries, roll cakes! I love getting them just like this, one slice.. otherwise I will eat the entire cake in one sitting, and end up looking like a roll cake, which would be a very BAD thing…

There’s also a strange variety of hot dog bun shaped pastries, with various fillings. This one was labeled as cream, but tasted a bit cheesy to me. Good, though!

[...] Crown Bakery is also about 10 miles away from our Las Vegas apartment community. This is an Asian bakery. You can read a review from Vegas Musings. [...]
